Peggy Hahn, age 95, passed peacefully in Waynesville, NC. She was born in Yeovil, Somerset, England, the eldest of the seven children of Winston and Blanche Phillips Brake. She married an American soldier and emigrated to Birmingham AL in 1946 where she resided for over 70 years until retiring to North Carolina in 2020. Mrs. Hahn was a career woman, working as cosmetics manager at Loveman’s, Rich’s, Pizitz, and Macy’s.
She is predeceased by first husband, James William Lynn; late husband, Richard Hahn; brothers, Kenneth (Jimmer) Brake and Brian Brake; and son, Wayne Lynn. She is survived by her son, James Aubrey Lynn (Nancy), and her sisters, Wendy McCann, Hazel Christian, Enid Thompson, and Alison Yeackle.
On Saturday, August 26, 2023, family and friends will gather at 2:00 at John’s-Ridout’s Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Avenue to caravan to the gravesite. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 in Elmwood Cemetery, 600 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Birmingham, AL 35211.
The Rev. Emily Collette, from The Church of the Ascension, Vestavia Hills, will be officiating.
