Peggy J Smith

Peggy J. Smith of Trussville, Alabama passed away on Monday, January 25, 2020 at the age of 88. Peggy was very much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She always enjoyed dancing every opportunity she got, lunching with her special ladies (Florence, Gail, and Gene), and playing bunco. She also enjoyed and looked forward to meeting with the Cumberland Ladies Group whom were some of her best friends for many-many years. Through the years she and her husband Billy developed such wonderful and lasting friendships in their community playing golf and through their insurance business. She, Billy, and their best friends, Ray and Louise Puryear are now teeing up for another golf game in Heaven … yep, the band is back together. Peggy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Trussville. Most of all she loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren (who lovingly named her "Picky"), and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. Smith, her parents, a brother and her sister. She is survived and will be missed by her son, Terry J. Smith and his children, Tanner Smith, Ian Smith (Melissa) and Cole Smith (Sarah-Kate); her daughter, Sheri Smith and her children, Ryan Thomas and Shae Thomas; six great grandchildren, Kinley, Haden, Sophia, Billie, Brooks, and Maximus; a brother-in-law Ronnie Smith and his sons John and Jason and their families; other nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 30th at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with visitation beginning at 1pm and followed by service time at 2pm. Interment will be in Pawnee Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Lung Association.
