South Roebuck Baptist Church was a very important part of her life for almost 60 years. The friends she made in her Sunday School Class were her lifetime friends and they took many trips together and funded many projects. Her Bunco friends were also cherished friends for over 40 years. That speaks well of her to maintain those long term relationships. She very much cherished the life long friends she made at South Roebuck Church and in the neighborhood.
Peggy after her children got older she took a course at H & R block to learn to do income taxes. Ultimately, she was in charge of many of the H&R blocks in Jefferson County. She would put her heart and soul into anything she did. Whether it was driving the church bus to the beach with her Sunday School class, hosting Bunco, staying up late working on tax returns; she could get things done.
She loved life and loved traveling with her husband as he played the banjo and they went all over the South attending and participating in Old Time Music Festivals. They had a group of friends they met at these festivals from far and wide that they enjoyed very much as they played and listened to live music. They also purchased a boat with some friends which they kept docked in Gulf Shores where they would meet and fish.
Their favorite activity was going to their lake house on Lake Guntersville and visiting their grand kids. There was no happier place to be than with her grandkids, and she spoiled them in every way possible: Ice cream, candy, soft drinks if it has sugar in it she fed it to her grand kids.
Peggy believed in “loving your neighbor as yourself” and doing the right thing. She tried to treat people fairly and she believed in helping people who were less fortunate than herself. She loved her family, her Church and her country.
