Ray A. Dodd

He was preceded in passing by his daughter Donna Herren, and his brothers Harold and Joe McCollum.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Dixie L. Dodd; his son Jamie Dodd; his daughters Debbie Borders (Terry) and Diana Lackey (Bill); his brothers William Clarence Dodd (Bobbie) and Charles Dodd (Marie); his grandsons Richard Staats and Jared Borders; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Ray was a good-hearted, hardworking man. He was owner and operator of Dodd Roofing Inc. since 1953 and was a pioneer in the industry in Birmingham. His business was his proudest accomplishment aside from providing for his family. Ray was tough, but loving. He loved Alabama football (Roll tide!), traveling in his RV to the mountains and the beach, fishing, his mother, and singing Gospel music. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Ray will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, Alabama. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, 431 60th St N, Birmingham, Alabama 35212.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association and/or the Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Ray.
