

Reda Marsh Smith Denham went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 9, 2023. She was born on September 15, 1938 in Dolomite, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Early Smith, the love of her life at a young age and Elmo Denham. Her parents preceded her death, Rachel Elizabeth Owen Watson and Lewey Frank Marsh. She is survived by her devoted Sons, Russell Owen Smith, Sr. (Sharon) of Riverside, AL and James David Smith (Alisa) of Elberta, AL. She served as a Christian example to her grandchildren, Rusty Smith (Jill), Sharon Smith Forriester (Johnny), Cassie Smith Thomas (Adam), Matthew Smith, Garrett Smith (Kayla) and Savannah Smith Lawler (Clay) and 15 precious great-grandchildren: Sydney, Mary Kate and Avery Smith, Raylan, Hollyn and Jaxen Forriester, Owen and Austin Thomas, Lyla, Elijah, Silas and Sloane Smith and Sophie, Talli Mae and Owen Lawler. Reda spent the majority of her adult life in Pleasant Grove, AL and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, AL. She graduated from Minor High School. Reda sought her calling to teach and graduated from University of Alabama with a degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree from Howard (Samford) University in Education. She served as an Elementary School Teacher in Jefferson County School System for over 34 years. She was awarded Favorite Teacher of the year. She had a love for animals, children and family. She was a faithful prayer warrior. She be will greatly missed by her family and friends.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 1:00pm-2:00pm at First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove located at 724 4th St. Pleasant Grove, Alabama 35127 with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00pm. Burial will follow immediately at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery located at 452 9th Ave. Pleasant Grove, Alabama 35127. There will not be a funeral procession or a police escort to the cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery after the Celebration of Life Service.
