Richard Lawrence Williamson

Richard Lawrence Williamson, age 67 of Birmingham, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at home. Richard was born on October 9, 1953 in Birmingham. He was a Eagle Scout of Troop 12 of Vine Street Presbyterian Church. Richard worked for several years at BFI and at the National News Distributors. He was also the main caregiver of his father and mother. He was preceded in death by his parents, George M. Williamson and Gertrude P. Williamson. He is survived by his fraternal twin George P. Williamson, brother Craig A. (Cyndi) Williamson, Sister Portia W. (Daniel) Wade and sister Allison W. (Dale) Wheelis.

Richard was a kind and friendly person who would talk to anyone. He was well read and had a vast well of knowledge. He was an avid collector of old things and had an eye for spotting value that others could not see.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Richard L. Williamson maybe made to Glen Iris Baptist Church, Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church or Baptist Church of the Covenant.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 2:00pm at Elmwood Cemetery. There will not be a public visitation. The family request that everyone meet on that day at 1:45pm at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel and we will process together to the cemetery.
