

Robert "Nick" Padgett, Jr., age 65, passed away on December 14, 2025, in Hoover, Alabama. Born on July 25, 1960, in Gadsden, Alabama, Nick lived a life marked by deep faith, intellectual curiosity, and a passionate devotion to the things he loved most—his family, his church, and Alabama sports.
Nick graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1978. He went on to attend the University of Alabama for a year before completing his education at Herzing Institute in 1982. His analytical mind and dedication to learning were evident throughout his life and career.
A longtime member and employee of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Nick found both spiritual fulfillment and professional purpose within its community. His love for scripture was profound; reading the Bible was not just a habit but a cornerstone of his daily life. His faith guided him through every chapter of his journey.
Nick’s passions extended beyond the pews. A devoted fan of Alabama sports, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. Whether it was football Saturdays or basketball season, he followed every game with enthusiasm and loyalty. He also had a deep appreciation for hard rock music—a soundtrack that accompanied many moments of reflection and joy throughout his life. Beyond sports and music, Nick was an avid reader. He would read anything that captured his curiosity, from history books to gripping Stephen King novels and countless other works of fiction..
Family meant everything to Nick. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers Jeff Padgett and Steve Padgett; his Aunt JoAnne Roddam; Uncle Ernest Campbell; and a host of cousins who will cherish their memories with him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert N. Padgett, Sr. and Jane B. Padgett; his grandparents John Austin Padgett and Grace Guice Padgett; and Jessie Rush Blankenship and Sadie Lee Blankenship.
Nick’s legacy is one of steadfast faith, unwavering loyalty to those he loved, and a thoughtful spirit that left an impression on all who knew him.
