

Rose Zegarelli Goldner, age 96 entered into her heavenly home on March 13, 2020. Born in Amsterdam, New York, to parents Carmela and Benedict Zegarelli, she was one of fourteen children. In her early years, Rose was a featured soloist with big bands and dance orchestras. During WW2, Rose worked in the Naval Torpedo Station and the Pentagon Photographic Department, where her job to develop the pictures sent from the war fronts. Rose also sang on many shows for the Armed Forces Radio where she met and married Arnold Goldner of Birmingham, an Army Master Sergeant who wrote and produced many of the radio shows. Upon settling in Birmingham, Rose worked with her husband in their store, The Toy and Record Shop in Mountain Brook. During that time, using the stage name Rose Arnold, she starred in the first variety TV Show on WBRC called "Coffee Break" in 1950 and was also the female soloist for the Harrison Cooper Orchestra for ten years. In 1976, Rose established Jewels By Rose, a fine jewelry in Vestavia Hills. Jewels By Rose was in business for over forty years, a legacy she was proud of. Rose loved art, jewelry design and song writing. Rose's latest published song, "I want to see you Christmas Morning may be viewed on YouTube. Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; son Richard Goldner; her parents and twelve sisters and brothers. Rose is survived by her daughter, Donna Jowers (Jim); four grandchildren: Sean Nowell (Kirsten), Tiffany Nowell, Jennifer Howton (James) and Rose Mary Biela (Lee); sister, Nancy Frascatore and many nieces and nephews. Rose will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and a smart accomplished woman who lived her life in her own way. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Block 36. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association.
