

Ruby Jean Pugh, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated servant of God, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2025. She was born on September 2, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late William Leslie and Rosa B. Allen.
Ruby's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, strong work ethic, and profound love for her family and community. She was a proud graduate of A.H. Parker High School. Her professional career saw her bring care and dedication to every task, retiring from Princeton Baptist Health as a housekeeper. She also contributed her time and talents at Oak Knoll Nursing Home and Birmingham Southern College.
A pillar of her church, Ruby was incredibly active and devoted. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her involvement in the missionary group, the funeral choir, the Monday night Bible Study Group and prayer meeting. She also served faithfully as a Deaconess, touching countless lives with her compassion and spiritual guidance.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William Leslie and Rosa B. Allen; her devoted husband, Curtis N. Pugh; her cherished daughter, Rose M. Hannon; and her dear son, Curtis D. Pugh, Jr.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her surviving grandchildren, Tahirah Fowler, Marvis Hannon, Curtis Pugh, III, Cadell Pugh, and Torrance Gordon. She is also survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Adline Steve Pugh, wife of Curtis, Jr., sister in-law, Lois Hollins, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will deeply miss her presence.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff of Cherry Hill Rehab and Nursing for their compassionate and wonderful care of Ms. Ruby during her time there.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Graymont, located at 100 9th Court West, Birmingham, Alabama 35204. A Celebration of Ms. Ruby's life will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. She will be laid to rest with her family at Birmingham's historic Elmwood Cemetery.
