S. J. Dunn

DUNN, S.J., who was 23 days short of his 86th birthday, passed away on June 15, 2013. He was born on July 8, 1927 in Boaz, AL to the late Stella and Jesse Dunn. He was a PFC in the Army from 1950-52. He retired in 1984 from Butler Mfg. Co. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and served as an usher. He was a Master Mason at Gardendale Lodge 907. He loved the outdoors. He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his wife, Helen “Bobbie” Dunn; his children, Shirley Hood (Mike), Ricky Dunn (Margie), and Nancy Toya (Richard); step-children, Fay Owen (Tommy) and Jim Akins (Connie); grandchildren, Jerremy and Jonathan Griffin, Paul Hood, Richard Buck (Shana), Tina Childers, Brandon Toya (Alli), Kim Owen, and Kevin Akins (Chris); 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Viva Roberson and Audrey Williams; brother, Wayne Dunn; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Ann Dunn; infant daughter; sister, Doris Thomas; and brother, Verbon Dunn. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 12-2 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. His service will begin at 2 with Rev. Charles Click and Rev. Steve Potts officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
