She was born in Bessemer, AL on September 12, 1924, to Rose Eugene and Hester Wear Atchison. She was a proud 1949 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Home Economics, later becoming a teacher in the Jefferson County and Vestavia school systems. It was her lifelong mission to help others attain their educational goals.
She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, working in her yard, loved daffodils and eating at The Bright Star. Always interested in others, she especially enjoyed keeping up with the children of her friends.
She was a long-time member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School to the children, helped prepare communion, and stitched one of the beautiful kneeling cushions in the Chapel. In addition to her parents and seven siblings, Mrs. Pearson is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Jack Howell Pearson and her son, John Howell Pearson. She is survived by many friends.
A graveside service will be held on Monday 8/11/2025 at 1:00 PM in Elmwood Cemetery.
