

Terry Lynn Sandlin, 68, passed away Sunday, November 8 while at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL awaiting a double lung transplant with his wife by his side. Terry was born January 22, 1947 in Birmingham, AL to Morris and Mary Helen Sandlin Caudle. Terry attended Dolomite Elementary & Junior High School, Hueytown High School and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. Terry served in the Army National Guard in Birmingham, AL. He worked as a Large Claims Representative at Infinity Property and Casualty Company in Birmingham, AL which he truly loved. Terry was known by is family, friends and colleagues for his humor, quick wit and kind nature. Some of his favorite past times were riding his Harley, going to the beach and meeting and talking to people where he never met a stranger. Terry is survived by his wife Janet (Jan), mother, Mary Helen Sandlin Caudle, son Kyle and wife Audrey, granddaughter Natalie, grandson Alex, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Morris Sandlin and brother, Kerry Rand Sandlin. Visitation will be Sunday, November 15th from 12-2pm, followed by a funeral service at John-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel (800 Dennison Ave, Birmingham, AL 35211). Burial will be Monday, November 16th at 10:00am at Cemetery (839 Wilkes Rd., Birmingham, AL 35228). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be designated to the Lung Transplantation Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic in Florida, which is used for research, or the Lung Charity Care Program at Mayo Clinic in Florida, which is used for patients who need assistance with things like gas and food during their care.
