Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Ima Jean (Sharp) Martin. He is survived by his sister, Mary Smith (Bill) of Gardendale, AL; his daughters, Donna Poe (Richard of Parrish, AL and Sandra Turner (Jerry) of Moody, AL; his grandchildren, Sandra Goodhew of Birmingham, AL, Jennifer Fayard (Nathan) of Andrews, IN, Jeremy Turner of Ashland, AL, Jamie Turner of Auburn, AL, and Amanda Turner of Ashland,AL; his great-grandchildren, Evan Diggs, Wesley Turner, and Hazel Turner of Ashland, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to East Side Baptist Church or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Oasis Hospice and to the staff of Elite Nursing and Rehab for their care and kindness.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.

Thomas will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, 431 60th Street N, Birmingham, AL 35212.
