Virginia (“Ginny”) Kaye Gammill Bourland, age 43, went to be with the Lord after a courageous five and half year battle with ovarian cancer. Ginny passed into eternity joyfully looking forward to walking in the garden with Jesus. Born on the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Ginny was raised in a Christian home and became one of God’s true and faithful servants. She graduated from Vestavia High School and was a proud graduate and avid fan of Auburn University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is survived by her husband of thirteen(13) years, Kenneth Shea Bourland, her two children Will Bourland (11) and Bella Bourland (8). Also surviving are her parents Dr. George and Cynthia Gammill, her brother Greg Gammill (Clair), her grandmother Virginia Durham, her in-laws Kenneth and Kathy Bourland, brother-in-law Ben Bourland, sister-in-law Katy Bourland Murray (Scott), aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ralph “Chick” Durham and Charles L. and Virginia “Kitty” Gammill. Ginny inspired countless lives as she "ran with endurance the race that was set before [her] fixing [her], eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of [her] faith." Ginny was an active member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and left an enduring Christian legacy for her children. A private burial service will be held for family in the morning of Thursday, May 11th, 2017. The visitation will follow at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church at 12:30p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00p.m. Please continue her legacy by sending letters to her children by sharing with them how her ministry has impacted your life. These letters can be sent to the Bourland’s home address: 1837 Catala Road, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church Foundation for the Ginny Bourland Memorial Scholarship Fund or Laura Crandall Brown Foundation (to support ovarian cancer) P.O.
