W. Fred Goggans

W. Fred Goggans, 92, of Springville, Al passed away on April 8, 2017. Fred was born near Hamilton, Al. on April 9, 1924. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland Lee Goggans and Carrie Stone Goggans, brother Frey Goggans (Nell), sisters Aleene Goggans Farr (Lester), Pauline Goggans Loden (Grady), and nieces Judy Loden and Karen Goggans. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louise Uptain Goggans, brother Dwight Goggans (Rosemary), daughter Mikki Adamson (Don), son David Goggans (Amy), grandsons DJ Adamson (Shelli), Travis Adamson, Matt Adamson (Jane), granddaughters Sarah Goggans and Kate Goggans, great grandchildren Gracie Adamson, Jack Adamson and Georgia Adamson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

After serving in the Pacific theater with the Army Air Corps in WWII, Fred graduated from Auburn University and worked at Bellsouth until retirement. Fred was a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church.

Services will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, with Rev. James Long officiating. Visitation will be at Thursday April 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. Following the service we will proceed to nearby Jefferson Memorial Cemetery for a brief graveside prayer, and then return to Ridout’s Trussville Chapel for a reception for friends and family.

Fred, also known as Dad, Paw-Paw, Paw and Paul, was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Although he will be missed here, we know he is now with our Heavenly Father, and is no longer blind or in pain.
