William Admiral Ethridge, age 97, of Bessemer, Alabama passed away on Thursday February 27, 2020. William was born August 13, 1922. William "Pop" was preceded in death by his wife, Lunnette Ethridge, his daughter, Paulette Schafner, brother, Phillip Moon, and sisters, Bernice Duncan, and Lucille Byrd. Pop is survived by his son, William C. Ethridge; grandchildren, Curtis Ethridge (Kimberly) and Heather Wright (Chris); great-grandchildren, Chase Ethridge, Adam Ethridge, and Hailey Wright; brother, Clyde Moon, sister Carolyn Calloway.
William retired from US Steel in Fairfield, AL. He was an avid Crappie fisherman and he loved the lake. Spending time with his grandchildren was always a great time for him. He loved Alabama Football. He served in the US Army during the WWII era, and was a member of the Greatest Generation. He was a member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church for several years.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 1 pm at Elmwood Chapel, with a celebration of life service to follow at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, AL.
