William “Bill” McCowan, age 72 of Springville passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Oneonta and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Survivors include his daughters: Bridgette Brown (Doug) and Tanja Miranda (Ignachio); sons: Erik McCowan and Shawn McCowan; sister, Margaret Ann Wilson; and eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 205-251-7227 in Birmingham, AL.
