

William Watson Walker, III, (Bill), 87, of Mountain Brook, Alabama entered into the kingdom of our Lord on August 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte; his children Mary Walker and Billy Walker (Jenny); his grandchildren Connor Walker & Hampton Walker; and sister Cathy Crawford (Lester).
He was predeceased by his daughter, Amy; his parents, W.W. Walker, Jr. and Nettie Catherine Walker; and his brother, Jim.
Bill was a gifted athlete. He attended Tennessee Military Institute where he was a Golden Glove boxer. He went on to the University of Tennessee where he studied business & after graduation, he entered the U.S. Army. Upon honorable discharge he joined his father and later his brother in their family wholesale drug distribution business, Walker Drug Company.
Bill served his community faithfully having been on numerous boards including AmSouth Bank, Birmingham Country Club, The Exchange Club, Hillcrest Foundation, Re-Entry Ministries and Viva Health.
He was an accomplished tennis player having won many club, state and regional tournaments and the National Tennis Doubles Championship in his 50’s and the Southern Regional tournament in his 80’s.
Bill loved his family immensely and enjoyed carrying on a tradition begun by his own father of taking family fishing vacations to Canada where he reveled in creating lasting memories.
He previously served as a deacon at Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Most importantly he was the epitome of one who lives a Christ like life. Anyone who knew him could attest to the fruits of the Spirit that were on constant display. His humble spirit, kind nature and honorable character will be dearly missed.
A family graveside service will be held honoring both his life on this earth and his eternal life in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
