

Mr. Willie James Stewart was born on December 22, 1930 in Sprott, Alabama to the late James Stewart and Cora Ratliff Stewart (who preceded him in death). He departed this life on March 2, 2020 at St. Vincent hospital in Birmingham, AL.
Willie Stewart grew up in Sprott, Alabama and moved to Bessemer, Alabama in 1963 to take a job at Elmwood cemetery where he worked for 32 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist church in Westend, AL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Rosie Stewart, his son James Earl Stewart, Sr., his daughter Jeanette Stewart and his grandson Tremaine Stewart, sisters Ella Mae Foster and Fannie Mae Melton and brother Hayward Stewart.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Four sons, Freddie Stewart (Yolanda) Birmingham, Jimmy Stewart (Darlene) Pleasant Grove, Anthony Stewart (Tammy) Fairfield, and Nathaniel Stewart (LaTonya) Houston, TX.
Four daughters, Cora Moore, Selma, AL, Bessie White, Bernice Steele (Calvin) and Deborah Hannah all of Birmingham. One sister, Mary Frances Twilley of Birmingham, 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home with a Funeral Service for Willie James Stewart following on Saturday March 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
