Catherine L. (Hughes) Owens Dobson

Catherine L. (Hughes) Owens Dobson, 86, of Bloomington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. She was born September 26, 1926 in Bloomington, IN the daughter of the late Audney and Etta Mae Pardue Hughes.

Catherine attended Bloomington Business College. She worked for many years in the Monroe County Courthouse in the treasurer and clerk’s office. In her later years she worked as a bookkeeper for a property management company.

Catherine was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church in Bloomfield, IN where she was a past treasurer. She was for over forty years a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Charles E. Dobson; her two daughters, Donna (Ron) Cornell of Ellettsville, IN and Janice (Randy) Long of South Lake Tahoe, CA; her son, Don (Deborah) Owens, II of Bloomington, IN; her sister, Hazel (Richard) Allen of Bedford, IN; her two brothers, John Hughes of Greenfield, IN and William Hughes of Bloomington, IN; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three step-children; six step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cpt Donald E. Owens, Sr., and a sister, Vivian Hughes DePaulo.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2012 at Day Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013 at Day Funeral Home and also on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
