Charles Marvin Smiley, 79, of Bloomington passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 in Owen Valley Health Campus. He was born May 3, 1943 in Barton Maryland to Marvin Smiley and Edna Pearl Smith Smiley. He was retired from the United States Navy and from owning a Snap-On tool franchise.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Walace Abell Smiley of Bloomington; two daughters, Deanna George of Ridgley, West Virginia and Michelle Man of Cumberland, Maryland; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charles was a member of StoneRidge Baptist Church in Bloomington. In July of 2008 he and Cindy were married in Grace Baptist Church. Charles loved working outside, telling jokes and making people laugh. His church was a very important part of his life, he often sang at church with Cindy accompanying him on the piano and they served as Missionaries to Santiago, Chile for 4 years.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Solsberry Cemetery with Pastor Andy Gaschke officiating and Military Honors provided by the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
