Ed was born in Bloomington, IN in 1948. He was raised by his grandparents, Roxie and Clarence Wicker. He graduated from Bloomington High School. A proud Veteran of the US Army, he courageously served his country in the Vietnam War. Ed worked at Carlisle Brake and Friction in Bloomington for over 35 years.
Ed was extremely family-oriented and was a quintessential “people person.” Ed never knew a stranger, and it wasn’t uncommon for him to be chatting with someone he had never met in a store and making that individual feel like they had known him for years. Ed had many friends in the community and he was known to cherish the simple pleasures of life, such as listening to music, having a good conversation, eating at a restaurant, or going to a ballgame.
Ed married his loving wife Kathy at Beck Chapel in Bloomington in 1986. They were happily married for 37 years. In addition to Kathy, left to cherish Ed’s memory are his children Scott (Rae) Wicker (Sacramento), Daniel (Sarah) Wicker (Indianapolis), Jacob Wicker (Bloomington), and Lauren Wicker (Indianapolis) along with his siblings and grandchildren.
Ed could always be found enjoying nature, hiking, sports, food, family, and working hard. Ed will always be remembered as helpful, kind, loving, genuine, generous, charismatic, positive, fun-loving, and loyal.
A celebration of life will be held at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home at 4150 E 3rd St, Bloomington, IN on October 6, 2023. Visitation will be held that day from 3pm-7pm and a memorial service will be held at 7pm. Memorial Contributions in honor of Ed can be made at charities associated with veterans’ causes.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.DayDeremiahFrye.com for the Wicker family.
