

Dale Daniel Winter, age 75, passed away at I.U. Health Bloomington on December 4th, 2022. Dale was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 30th, 1947 to Samuel M. Winter and Josephine (nee Gallena) Winter. Dale proudly served in the U.S. Navy between 1965 and 1969 on an aircraft carrier aboard the U.S.S America. He also held a B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois. On February 7th, 1970, Dale married his beloved wife, Patricia A. Winter (nee Wagner). Later in life, Dale retired from Hoosier Energy as V.P. of Operations. He also was a licensed Professional Engineer in four states and member of the professional organizations, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers.
Dale is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat Winter of Bloomington; his children, Karen E. (Alan) Burchardt of Naperville, IL, Margaret M. Winter of Bloomington, Emily M. (James) Gauthier of Silver Springs, MD, and Daniel T. Winter of Bloomington; and grandchildren Olivia G. Burchardt and Samuel J. Gauthier.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Josephine Winter; brothers, Thomas and Michael Winter.
Dale was an avid reader, loved flowers, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, movies, sports, and football. But most of all, he loved being a father and grandfather and considered his family to be his biggest accomplishment.
A visitation will be held at Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home (4150 E. 3rd Street, Bloomington, IN 47401) on Monday, December 12th 2022 from 5pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022 at 11am, followed by burial at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Flowers and Mass cards are appreciated by the family. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
