Emma Teresa Mae Barber

Emma Teresa Mae Barber passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, October 12, 2019 in Bloomington, Indiana. She was 19 years old. Emma was born and raised in Bloomington, graduating with honors from Bloomington High School North and was President of the Art Honor Society. She was accepted to Purdue University and planned to attend next year. Emma was an outdoor enthusiast excelling in the rugged sport of Lacrosse, kayaking in Lake Monroe and hiking in the nearby woods that surrounded her home. Drawing, ceramics and stained glass were three more of her favorite hobbies which she thoroughly enjoyed. Emma is survived by her parents; Jackie (Grubb) and Jason Mack, one sister; Jillian Barber, one brother; Bodhe Mack, her maternal grandfather; Dennis (wife Chris) Grubb, fraternal grandparents; Andrea and Larry Barber, and grandfather; Allen Mack, five uncles; Jared Grubb, Kevin Mack, Todd Mack, Jason Wanzell, Jeremy Wanzell, her boyfriend Alec Appel and his parents; Dave and Diane Appel. Emma was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother; Teri Mae Rockwell and her great-grandfather; Elton Rockwell. Emma was a kind, generous and wonderful spirit who always had a smile on her face and never knew a stranger. Emma was a strong environmental advocate and active in the Bloomington community. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and all who knew her. Visitation for Emma will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana 47401. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 12 noon also in the funeral home with Pastor Rich Holdeman officiating. Burial will be in Solsberry Cemetery, Solsberry, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Wildcare, Inc., 198 N. Hartstrait Rd., Bloomington, IN 47404.
