Judie was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, and moved with her family to Los Angeles, California, when she was 16, where she later met her husband, Charles, and raised a family. An avid lover of music and art, she held season tickets to the major performing venues of Southern California, and supported artists, arts organizations, and musicians throughout her life. During her years in California, she dedicated her volunteer hours to improving the lives of others as a member of the service sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, as well as working as Organizer and Fundraiser for the National Veterans Foundation. A talented artist, she painted for friends and family in her spare time, and loved good food, good company, and a good jazz.
She moved back home to Bloomington following the death of her husband, where her brother, sister, and many extended family members resided. She loved the green of the hills, the changes in season, and the nearness of family. She continued to support the arts in Bloomington, volunteered for many years with the Monroe County History Center, and was an active member of the Bloomington Kiwanis Organization.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles J. Iverson; her parents Herman F. Mulryan & Carrie Lucille Martin Young, and her brother William F. Mulryan. She is survived by her sister, Patricia J. Moore, of Eldon, Missouri; her children, Krista Detor, of Bloomington, IN; and Robert J. Iverson, of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren Jeremy A. Iverson, Ryan C. Iverson, Aurora K. Detor, and step-grandchildren Lena R. Weber, and Isla D. Weber.
A member of the United Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, she delighted in her church family and community, and Rev. John Napoli of UPC will be conducting a private service, with special remarks by Retired Pastor Roy McRoberts.
Her love of travel took her across the country and the world - and she fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting Ireland, the ancestral home of her father's family, taking great pride in her Irish roots. A painter, a poet, a mother, and a true friend, she will be live on in the hearts of many, humming 'La Vie En Rose' all the while.
Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
