

James E. Lawson, 85 of Bloomington died Saturday Morning, January 2, 2016 in his residence. He was born March 23, 1930 in Bloomington to Alva C. Lawson and Leone Violet Hancock Lawson. He was a retired fire fighter for the City of Bloomington.
Survivors include his wife, Vida M. Grafe Lawson; two daughters, Toni Lawson of Sugarland, TX and Dayna Gilmore of The Woodlands, TX; a son, James L. Lawson of Austin, TX; a stepson, Stephen McKinney and his wife Julie of Bloomington; two grandsons; a granddaughter; four step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Gayle Lawson.
Memberships include the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, the Professional Firefighters Union of Indiana and was a U. S. Air Force Veteran. James was a special care giver to many people throughout his life.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday January 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third ST, with Brother Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday January 4, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
