Jean (McArtor) Johns

Jean married her high school sweetheart Robert (Bob) Johns on September 19, 1942, and they shared 72 years together until Bob’s passing in 2015. Jean worked for RCA, Sarkes Tarzian, Crane Depot, and as a beautician. She later worked for Cook as an inspector after she retired. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 18. She was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

Jean loved people and never met a stranger. She loved to travel, play cards with her friends but most of all she absolutely loved to dance. She also loved spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Jean is survived by her children, Steve Johns of Bloomington, Shannon Wagoner and husband Dan of Bloomington, Grandchildren, Jamie Willis and husband Kenny of Springville, Erika Willoughby and husband Darrick of Bedford, Aaron Johns and wife Karlie of Baytown, TX, and Andy Johns and wife, Nikki, of Baytown, TX. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Garrett Willis, Emma Holmes and husband Cooper, Alyssa Avera and husband Connor, Kinleigh, Hudson, Emory, Vera, Kaden, and Karter Johns, and one great-great granddaughter, Rylee Avera.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Johns in 2015, her parents, her sister, Vera Mathis and 3 brothers, Ernie, Doyle and Leon McArtor.

We want to thank Dr. Bomba Jr. and Hospice for taking such good care of mom. Especially her nurse Dorthy Deckard.

Viewing will be held at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home on Thursday, February 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the funeral will be Friday, February 2nd at 11:00 am with viewing one hour prior to the funeral, with Tom Ellsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Garrison Chapel Cemetery.
