

Jerry Edgar Shipley, 78, of Solsberry died unexpectedly Tuesday in I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital. He was born January 19, 1943 in Bloomington to Sherman Casey Shipley and Lucille Marie Fish Shipley. He was retired from Lawson Products, Inc.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Janie Walker Shipley of Solsberry; two sons, Jon (Abby Mulry) Shipley of Springville and Jerry Ross “JR” (Tina) Shipley of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Jared Shipley, Samantha Shipley Crouch, Kimberlynn (Brandon) Ryan, Brandon (Kelly) Stephens and Jeff Smallwood; eleven great grandchildren, Lucas, Jonathon and Jackson Shipley, Hallie Jo and Branson Crouch, Addison Helton, Raelynn and Gunner Ryan, and Nevaeh, Lane and Tyler Stephens; three nephews, Jeff Cooper, Curt Cooke and Tory Shipley; and two nieces, Valerie Humphrey and Pam Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob Shipley; and a grandson, Joshua Shipley.
Jerry was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, West. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking his grandchildren to church, watching TV, playing games on his computer and was very crafty, he could fix anything.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday with Brandon Stephens officiating; burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery.
