

Jimmy Franklin Arms, 64, died May 18, 2015 in Select Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He was born on August 3, 1950 to Junior and Nellie (Capps) Arms in Bloomington.Jimmy married Mary L. Johnson on September 30, 1967. He owned his own trucking company J.F.Arms Enterprises for many years and had also driven for PPG Industries. He volunteered his time and equipment for the Edgewood High School Marching Band to transport the instruments to various contests. He also volunteered his time and services to take supplies to those in need after hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005 and also after 9/11 in New York City in 2001. He was a loving and giving husband, father, brother and friend to many and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
His 10 year old grandson, Rylan, was the light of his life. They were buddies always and after his Pawpaw was gone he said “Don’t cry, Pawpaw is in heaven and he is in our hearts”. He was always first to lend support to anyone who needed help. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Mary, son Scott Arms of Scottsdale, AZ, daughters Samantha(Jeremiah)Long of Camby, IN and Stephanie(Adiaak) Gavarrete of Orlando, FL and his grandson Rylan Karter Sheeley.
He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters; Onnie Hart of Loogootee, IN, Donna Pedro of Bloomington, IN, Larry Arms of Bloomington, IN Virginia Fitzpatrick of Indianapolis, IN, and Roger Arms of Ambia, IN. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Junior and Nellie Arms, an infant son Robert, two brothers; Gary and Danny Arms, his sister Judy Phillips an infant brother and sister, and his mother-in-law Helen V. “Granny” Johnson. Visitation for Jimmy will be held on May 21, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, In 47401. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 12 noon also in the funeral home. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
