Dear Sally,

We are very sorry to hear of Mike's passing.  We knew him in different capacities.  Chris has fond memories of his interactions with Mike in Informatics, and I have always known him to be a superb human being.  Please share our condolences with your family.

Dearest Sally & family, 
So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing, I worked with him for many years. He was a very kind man, a wonderful colleague & friend and I will miss him. When I came to work in Informatics in 2001, I had met him previously in the College, but only briefly, starting the new school was a great adventure with Mike as Dean, he always stopped by “just to say hi” & make sure we had what we needed. After he retired he still did when he was in the building! He loved gardening and flowers also, he will be missed. My sympathies to the family, treasure your memories & hold them close. He checked on me when my husband dealt with cancer & the effects of chemo and after he passed, I will never forget that,

Mike was the model academic citizen – seeing the potential in students and colleagues, and using his understanding and connections to help develop these talents. I enjoyed working with him on the proposal for the School of Informatics, where his attention and support made a major difference for the university and the field. My condolences to Sally and the family.

Dear Sally,
I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing.  

This takes me back to the first time he and I met, at a gathering at Larry Campbell’s place, summer of 1980.  I remembered fondly a logic course I took in college, and he recommended a text that I still have a copy of and that, in fact, I had just take off the shelf a week ago for another look.  

He was always so friendly and gracious to me, mostly recently in impromptu chats with you and him at the Y.

This has to be a very sad time for you and family.  My condolences to all.

Mike always treated the staff with kindness and real interest in their lives.  I, for one, appreciated that during the many years I worked in the philosophy department.  He was definitely one of the "good guys" on campus and will be missed.
