

Kevin was born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Marie (Fraine) Joyce. He was a Marine Sergeant veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific. Kevin earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Manhattan College in 1951, benefiting from the GI bill. Upon graduation, he worked for Sperry Corporation for three years. He worked the Strategic Air Command in developing electronics designs for military aircraft. He considered this one of the most interesting experiences of his career.
In 1954 he began a lengthy career in industrial sales of electronics for GTE in Cincinnati and Chicago and later for Sarkes Tarzian of Bloomington, Indiana. In 1979, at the age of 51, he began a second career in the financial services industry. He worked as a financial planner for Merrill Lynch in Indianapolis. He later opened a Merrill Lynch office in Bloomington, Indiana until he retired as Vice President Senior Financial Planner at the age of 75.
Kevin was a 48 year member of the Bloomington Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He was also a long time member of the Bloomington Kiwanis Club. More than anything else, Kevin was an ardent outdoorsman enjoying hunting and training bird dogs. He was a strong supporter of wildlife habitat restoration and a member of Pheasants Forever and Quails Forever.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Griffin Joyce in 1964, his Third wife, Susan Winslow Joyce in 2011 and his sister, Justine Joyce McVicker in 1995.
He is survived by his Daughter, Catherine Cooper (husband Richard) of New Palestine, IN; Son, Robert Joyce (wife Tory) of Sun Prarie, WI; Son, Richard Joyce of Waxham, NC and Daughther, Dr. Patricia Joyce of Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by Grandchildren, Jessica Jackson (husband Joseph) of Indianapolis, IN, Robert Cooper of Indianapolis,IN, Danielle Joyce of Sun Prairie, WI, and Jamie Catherine Joyce of Waxham, NC. He is also survived by his Sister, Patricia Sierk (husband Raymond) or West Palm Beach, FL. The close relationship he had with his children and grandchildren, as well as their close relationship with each other, was a great source of joy for Kevin.
Visitation will be held at Day Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St.,Bloomington, Indiana, on Wednesday, February 27,2013 from 4:00- 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,2222 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana on Thursday, February, 28,2013 at 10:00am. Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage, Indiana.
