

Leroy Dale “Lee” Covey, 87, of Linton, went to meet his Heavenly Father Sunday at the Glenburn Home in Linton. Born July 30, 1924 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Dee and Amanda Covey. He was a carpenter with Carpenters Local union #1664. He was a member of Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church. He was a good husband, dad and grandpa who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Eva Goggins Covey, of Linton, whom he married on November 28, 1987; one daughter, Joann East, of Ellettsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard E. and Connie Covey, of Norman, Indiana, David and Rene Covey, of Heltonville and Rob and Liz Covey, of Bloomington; four step-children, Rhuanelta Rose, of Linton, Kenny Goggins and wife, Teresa, of Linton, Ronnie Goggins and wife, Marilyn, of Duggar and Rick Goggins and wife, Kay, of Portage; one daughter-in-law, Kay Covey, of Springville, thirty-one grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Maxine (Roby) Covey; two sons, Thomas and Kenny Covey, one daughter, Kathy English, one grandson, Kenny Dale Covey, Jr., and one great-grandchild, Heather Gardener, three brothers and three sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
