

Marjorie Marsell Beard, age 94, of Bloomington, died Friday evening at Garden Villa in Bloomington. Born March 11, 1921 in Dexter, Missouri, she was the daughter of David and Roxie (White) Combs. She was a graduate of Shawswick High School in Bedford, Indiana. She married David Beard in 1939 and they moved to Bloomington after W.W. II. She was part of Steele-Beard Electric from 1950 to 1987. Marjorie was a long-time member of the Amanda Club and Delta Sigma Kappa philanthropic sorority.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Nora Beard, of Bloomington; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Crum, of Naples Florida; one sister, Altha Graham, of Carmel, Indiana, one brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Yvonne Combs, of Bedford, Indiana; grandchildren, Allison (Will) Brooks, of Indianapolis, Patrick Beard, of Bloomington, Gregory Abram, of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Bradley Abram and Wesley Abram, both of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Brooke (Jeff) Mackey, of Bloomington and Taylor (Amie) Abram, of Sarasota, Florida; great-great-grandchildren, Hudson and Rowan Abram and Lydia Mackey. She is also survived by niece, Merilynn (Jim) Mitchell, of Bloomington and nephew, Reed (Virginia) Beard, of Bedford and several grand nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her step-grandchildren are Lori (Jamie) Shepherd, of Louisville, Kentucky and Charles Gillespie, of Ellettsville, step-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Sloan, Cailin Adams, Kristin (Nic) Bontrager and Nick Ackerman and step-great-great-grandchildren, Aston and Grant Bontrager and Lyla Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David L. Beard, two brothers, Chalmer and Marvin Combs and two sisters, Justine Kinsler and Opal Stafford.
A special thank-you to the staff and many friends at Garden Villa for the care she received while there and a special thanks to long time caregivers and friends, Dianna and David Silvers.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St; Bloomington with Rev. Reed Beard officiating. Entombment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Family and friends may gather prior to the service on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
