Martha Jewell Colson

Martha Jewell (May) Colson passed away on July 2, 2022, at Hearthstone Health Campus in Bloomington. She was born on October 20, 1942 in Monroe County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Marvin E. and Delpha L. (Howe) May. Martha attended Smithville High School. She was married to Joseph Waterford for 17 years. She then married Robert (Bob) Colson on October 28, 1978. She worked at RCA in Bloomington, and later in the winding room at ABB/Westinghouse. She retired after 32 years there. Martha loved her family. She also had a love for racing and country music, especially Willie Nelson.

Survivors include her two sons, Dennis (Pam) Waterford and David Waterford; three grandchildren, Heather Henderson, Nathan Waterford and Michael Waterford, multiple great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert T. Colson, her parents, her siblings Alice Todd, Dwight May, Zaon May, Raymond May, an infant sister and two grandsons, David Lee Waterford and Bradley Alan Waterford

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Dennis Waterford officiating, Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St.
