Mary Elizabeth Anderson was born December 16th, 1930, in Litchfield, IL, to the late Ruth Roberts and Henry Anderson. Mary was a proud older sister to brothers Stephen, Hank, and Michael. Mary graduated from Litchfield High School and worked as a secretary before meeting her future husband, John Brown Droste, on a blind date. They were married on September 2, 1951, in Union Avenue Christian Church, Litchfield, IL.
The couple welcomed two sons, John Anderson and Stephen Early, before moving to Bloomington, Indiana, in 1957.
While living in Bloomington, Mary joined the First Christian Church on Kirkwood Avenue and was a member for over 65 years. During this time, she was one of the church’s most devoted members. Whether it was through financial contributions or volunteer efforts, Mary found joy within her church community. The church and her faith in God were second only to her family.
As an active member of the Alpha Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority, Mary formed friendships that she cherished throughout her membership years.
Mary is survived by her younger son, Steve; brother, Hank Clement Anderson; granddaughter Beth (Anna) Droste-Glowinski; great-granddaughters, Ellie, Lila, Josie, and Charlotte; and many loved nieces, nephews, and family members.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen, her mother, her brother, Michael, her granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Droste, her father, her husband, and her son, John.
