

Nina “Granny” Ruth (Norman) Covey, 86, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2011. She was born at home in Monroe County on March 8, 1925 to Mamie (Eads) and Glen Norman. She had one sister, Alice Norman and three brothers, Ralph, John, and Noble Norman. All Nina’s siblings along with her parents have preceded her in death.
Nina was a devoted mother to two sons who survive Dwight “Bud” (Donna) Covey and Gary (Becky) Covey. Nina was also blessed with four grandchildren; Christina (Steve) Hayes, Crystal (Donnie) Hillenburg, Aaron Covey, and Christopher (Molly) Covey, ten great-grandchildren, Justin (Alicia) Hayes, Mallory Hayes, Jordan Hillenburg, Marissa Hayes, Harley Hillenburg, Logan Day, Kailea Covey, Cheyenne Covey, Jaclyn Hillenburg, and Kody Covey; one great-great grandson, Aidan Hayes; any many nieces and nephews. Nina worked at RCA for many years. She attended Clear Creek Christian Church and was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge.
Nina was a wonderful cook teaching her children and grandchildren how to make her famous chicken and noodles and yeast rolls. Nina enjoyed gardening, spending time in her vegetable garden and growing Peonies and roses. Her porch was lined with potted flowers and plants where she would sit on her porch swing visiting with her neighbors.
Nina was extremely devoted to her family. She attended as many activities as possible for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and enjoyed playing with her great-great grandson.
Nina enjoyed taking rides in cars with her friend Virginia Fowler visiting the countryside. She enjoyed traveling and loved to vacation with her family and take trips with the RCA travelers. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Day Funeral Home, with the Reverend Glenn Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Day Funeral Home. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. the night of visitation.
