

Olive Helena Sylvester, age 101, of Bloomington, died Thursday at The Residence at McCormick’s Creek. Born February 4, 1910 in Saline City, Indiana (Clay County), she was the daughter of Roy and Nora (Carrell) Pritchard. She had worked as the manager of the Neumode Shop in Bloomington for thirty years. She had previously worked at the Bloomington Basket Factory for twenty-five years to help support her family during the Great Depression. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church since 1970 where she married her husband, Arbutus Forrest “Mike” Sylvester. She also was a member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her two sons, Larry F. Sylvester, of Zionsville and James K. Sylvester, of New Albany; one brother and sister-in-law, Mervin and Marie Pritchard, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Angie, Greg, Tim, Michael, and Devon; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Bernard Pritchard, Kenneth Pritchard, Russell Pritchard, and two sisters, Neva Baugh and Jeanne Kellams.
The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
