Patricia Cairns

She was born in Lakewood, Ohio, to the late Frank and Charlotte (Nyerges) Kovach. Patricia graduated from Lakewood High School and attended Ohio State University. She married the late John A. Cairns in 1953, and they spent much of their married lives in Indiana and Florida before moving to Ellettsville in 1989.

Patricia was a homemaker. When she lived in Indianapolis, she also worked as a part-time substitute elementary school teacher. Patricia’s hobbies included traveling, painting and sculpting. A fabulous cook, Patricia won ribbons for baked goods at the county fair. Patricia served as a volunteer at Bloomington Hospital for many years, following the death of her husband.

Patricia is survived by two children: Maureen Cairns, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Daniel Cairns (Debbie), of Sacramento, California. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Daniel (19), Patrick (17) and Erin (15).

Patricia’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 8th, at 11:00 am at St. John The Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 4607 W. SR 46 (at Union Valley Road), Bloomington, IN 47404, (812) 876-1974.
