

Paul “Neal” Williams, age 92, of Richmond, Indiana, formerly of Bloomington, died Wednesday morning at his residence in the Lamplight Inn At The Leland. Born October 27, 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Paul Henry and Myrtle (Neel) Williams. At the age of three, his mother died and he was proudly raised by his grandmother, Zora Neel, in Redford, Missouri. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II., where he served in the amphibious forces and was part of the invasions of Sicily and the landings at Normandy on D-Day. He retired as a truck driver for Hall Trucking and served as an avid volunteer at the Bloomington Older Americans Center. He also was proud of receiving his G.E.D. in his later life. He was truly loved by the nurses, staff and residents at the Leland Residence in Richmond.
He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron Williams of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Pam Williams, of Richmond, Indiana and Jon and Cathy Williams, of Bedford, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jon Williams, Jr., Wendi Arthur and Nicholas Williams; four great-grandchildren, Sierra, Destiny, Savannah and Lilly; several step grandchildren; and beloved cousins residing in Illinois and Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lillian Ruth (Yates) Williams in 1994.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 A.M. at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
