Ricky Edward Mattress Sr.

Ricky Edward Mattress, Sr., 67, of Bloomington passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 in McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born December 7, 1955 in Lincoln Heights, Ohio to Walter Gilyard and Wilma Mattress. He was retired from Cook, Inc.

Survivors include his children, Johnny Mattress, Nikki Mattress, Ricky (Tiffany Whatley-Mattress) Mattress, Jr. and Briana Campbell; five grandchildren, Christopher Mattress, Ky’Von Mattress, Jarreeah Johnson, Brandon Whatley and Robert Williams III; a great granddaughter, Kehlani Mattress; a brother, Kenneth (Zeb) Mattress; a sister, Wendy Mattress Royles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Terri Mattress; and his sister, Roberta Mattress.

Ricky was a member of Light House Community Church, and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He cherished his time with his family, he enjoyed coaching his children in football, caring for his plants, cooking, playing chess, playing cards and making people laugh. Ricky had been an Armor Bearer and Deacon at Anointed Harvest Fellowship Church and a Board Member of Light House Community Church.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Light House Community Church, 850 East Winslow Road, with Pastor Derek House officiating, burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street.
