Robert Chandler Hamilton, 44, of Bloomington, died at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Dec. 7, 2021. Born February 10, 1977 in Los Angeles, CA to the union of Jesse L. Hamilton and Suzanne (Chandler) Hamilton, Robert attended school in Berkeley, CA and Bloomington, IN. He attended Bloomington South High School (where he played football) and Bloomington North High School, completing a GED shortly after leaving North, followed by a series of computing classes at Ivy Tech Community College/Bloomington.
Robert worked as a journeyman electrician prior to other local occupations with Smokin’ Jack’s Rib Shack, Northside Cleaners, and Hall Signs. At each location, Robert came to be known and appreciated for his conscientious service and totally genuine upbeat manner and politeness. At the time of his death, Robert was dedicated to learning the building trades and, in particular, flooring installation. He was an inveterate and creative handyman, as illustrated by improvements to the warm and cozy home he maintained for his loving family. Prior to cold weather, Robert was becoming a very popular landscaper and jack of all trades on the New Unionville Next Door Neighbors website. Robert excelled as an athlete in Bloomington though his sports loyalties leaned to Bay area teams, followed closely by the Pacers and Indiana University.
Robert will be deeply and sadly missed by his fiancée and life partner Elizabeth (Libby) Norris Stafford, his sisters Lia Erin (Jermaine) Robinson and Jennifer Alyse Faulk; his children Amyah Jade Chandler Hamilton and Brylee Stafford Hamilton; his children-in-love, Jasmine Allen, Jayden and Mya Gray; his parents Jesse L. Hamilton, Suzanne Chandler Faulk; his parents-in- love, Philip and Linda Stafford and sister/brother-in-love Abby and Lewis Campbell; stepfather Roderick Faulk and half sister Shariese Hamilton; nieces Amelia and Avery Robinson; his grandparents, the Rev. Marvin and Portia (Thomas) Chandler; his aunts, Faith Chandler and Jolene (Cornelius) Wright and a host of broken-hearted cousins, other loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his son-in-love, Matthew Allen.
Due to public health concerns, a memorial service is planned for a later date. Expressions of sympathy and fond memories may be left at www.DayDeremiahFrye.com.
