

She retired as an office administrator for Indiana University. She had a passion and talent for creating beautiful and bountiful flower and vegetable gardens as well as crocheting.
She was known for her compassion, encouragement and prayerful intersession by all who knew her. She was a member of Eastview Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by daughters, Joyce Heinlein and Bev Ringer of Bloomington, Carol Brinegar of Oklahoma City and her son Don Payton of Cincinnati, Ohio; her sister Lela Pennington of Richmond, Indiana, eighteen grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbur Payton, one infant daughter, Janet M. Payton and sisters Getty Lane and Laura Sheehan.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Day Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Gosport Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
