Thelma Pauline Smith Douthitt, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Bloomington on November 1, 2019. Born on March 25, 1928 at home in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Dalty and Dessie(Deckard)Smith. Thelma worked at Sarkus Tarzian for 33 years as an assembler. She was married to Austin Pate. He died in 1994. She then married Stanley Douthitt, He preceded her in death in February of 2019. Thelma loved God, enjoyed being with her family, reading and quilting. She was a member of South Union Christian Church and was a member of the VFW and the Eagles. Thelma is survived by her son Steven and his wife Shirley Pate of Ellettsville and her daughter Deanna Wilder of Orleans. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Bergen; 3 sisters, Edith Smith, Ines Cain and Mable Deckard; three brothers, Lanford Smith, Alfred Smith and Edward Smith. Visitation for Thelma will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. also in the funeral home with Jeff Smith and Jimmie Cain officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
