Donald Norman Antonson, age 84, of Bothell, Washington, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland, Washington.
Donald is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Caroline (Hoehn); sons Scott Daniel Antonson of Pennsylvania, Michael Lee Antonson (Jenny) of Central New York; daughter-in-law Angela Antonson; and granddaughter Emma Antonson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan Gilbert Antonson and Ruby Jane Sterner Antonson; his sisters Mary Ann Antonson, Dora Lorraine Antonson, and Cora Esther Antonson, all of Kane, Pennsylvania; and his son, Stephen Allan Antonson of Lynnwood, Washington.
Donald was born on January 13, 1940, in Kane, Pennsylvania, to Allan and Ruby Antonson. He graduated from Kane High School in 1958, before pursuing a life dedicated to faith and service. Donald attended the Salvation Army School for Officers’ Training in the Bronx, New York, where he earned a certificate in Christian Ministry. He later graduated from SUNY Utica with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
An ordained Christian minister, Donald served as pastor in several Salvation Army and Pentecostal congregations in Pennsylvania and New York. He also held various administrative roles in industry and retail sales, balancing his professional career with his deep commitment to ministry.
In 1965, Donald married Elizabeth Hoehn of Philadelphia, and together they raised three sons: Scott, Stephen, and Michael. He was a supportive and encouraging father, always reminding his children to pursue their goals with determination and to follow the example of Jesus Christ in their daily lives.
Donald was known for his reserved nature and his love of solitary hobbies, including reading, gardening, and tinkering with home repairs. He was an avid sports fan, particularly a devoted supporter of the New York Yankees. A man of faith, he was active in his local clergy associations and frequently volunteered for church fundraising events, especially pancake breakfasts, where his quiet kindness and dedication to service were always appreciated.
A memorial service celebrating Donald’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
