Audrey was born and raised in northern Wisconsin. Despite early physical challenges, including a farm accident that resulted in the loss of the fingers on her left hand, she faced life with resilience and determination. She graduated as both prom queen and valedictorian of her high school and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
While attending UW she met her future husband, David Marquardt. They were married and together raised three children while moving frequently for David’s service in the Marine Corps and later for his career in engineering. In every new community, Audrey was active in church, school programs, newcomers’ clubs, book clubs, and especially bridge groups.
The family settled in Boulder, Colorado, in 1975. Audrey discovered quilting and weaving, enjoyed music, and became a devoted supporter of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was also a lifelong skier and ice skater, sharing her love of the outdoors with her family. A lover of football you could often find her watching a game while doing puzzles. Go Packers!
Audrey and David later operated Concord Guides, a business they successfully ran for more than 30 years. This allowed them to enjoy time with family and friends, travel throughout the United States in their RV, and take international trips to Russia, Norway, China, Vietnam, and beyond. Their home was always open for gatherings, including the much-anticipated annual pig roasts and New Year’s Eve parties.
Following David’s passing, Audrey moved to downtown Boulder and later to Frasier Meadows Retirement Community. She quickly became active in the community, serving as a neighborhood leader and forming many friendships. She continued to enjoy playing bridge, attending concerts, and participating in social activities.
Audrey is survived by her children, Kris (Mona), Kelly, and Eric (Michele Olsen); her grandchildren, Calvin and Alex; and numerous extended family and friends. She will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and love of life.
Memorial service will be on Saturday, August 16th at 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1000 W 15th Avenue, Longmont, CO 80501.
