Betty Berger

Betty was born July 19, 1928 in White River, SD. She spent her childhood outside Norris, SD and graduated from White River High School. After graduation she worked at the State Health Department in Pierre, SD. Betty married Earl Berger on April 19, 1947; their marriage lasted four days short of 61 years. They lived in South Dakota and Maryland before moving to Boulder, CO in 1953.

Betty was not employed but certainly worked outside the home after moving to Boulder, volunteering for over 30 years with the Civil Air Patrol in emergency services and communications, 35 years with Boulder Memorial/Avista Hospital, and 55 years in Boulder elementary school libraries. Her first airplane ride was at age four and she completed the coast to coast Air Race Classic in 1985 at age 52.

Betty is survived by three children; Larry Berger of Hotchkiss, CO, Karen Berger Allen of Aurora, CO, and Kevin Berger (Cindy) of Erie, CO. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Jennifer Berger, Dennis Allen, Sean Allen, Eric Berger, Jeffrey Berger (Leslie), and Kari Berger Houchens (Steven), four great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Earl Berger (April 15, 2008) and son Keith Berger (February 24, 2015).

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be make to TRU Community Care or a organization of their choice in Betty's name.

A memorial service will be held for Betty at Crist Mortuary on January 26, 2019 at 11am.
