

It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Koch Johnston announces her passing after a battle with cancer, on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the age of 83 years. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her sons; Mark, Dwight, his wife Stacee, Alan, his wife Eda, Steven Johnston, and her daughters; Connie Aumiller, her husband Terry, and Carla Hutchins, her husband Joe.
Carol’s 11 grandchildren (Shannon, Josh, Michele, Hollie, Jeremy, Tamika, Zach, Becky, Chantel, Buddy and Taylor) and 9 great grandchildren (Paityn, Lillie, Masyn, Jase, Kambree, Cameron, Payton, Triston, Addie, Abel and Josie) will miss her dearly.
Carol was predeceased by her husbands, Ralph Koch and Wilbur Johnston, and her brother LeRoy Warembourg. Also, her sister Darlene and Parents Art and Gladys.
Carol grew up in Louisville, Colorado and graduated from Louisville High School. She married Ralph Koch and had 3 boys. She was widowed in 1966 and began working at CU Library. She met Wilbur Johnston and remarried in 1969. Her and Wilbur enjoyed camping, boating, square dancing and traveled the world seeing sites and visiting family.
In late 1990’s Carol built her dream cabin in Grand Lake, CO to share with family and friends. Summers and Holidays were spent fishing, hiking, skiing and snowmobiling.
Wilbur and Carol moved from their home on Morgan Drive in Boulder and lived the rest of their lives at Affinity in Lafayette. She loved retirement, making new friends, playing cards, doing water exercise and enjoying an occasional happy hour!
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301, Reverend Kim A. Klein officiating. Reception will follow at Affinity, 860 W. Baseline Rd., Lafayette, CO.
