Debra was born in Littleton in 1951 to Jean Deahn and Roger Roberg. She graduated from Littleton High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis and then completed her master’s degree from Boston University. Debra dedicated 27 years of her career to helping others as a Program Manager at the Boulder County Justice Center. She was deeply committed to social justice and reform which shaped her personal and professional life.
After retiring in 2013, Debra remained an active community leader. She used her skills in facilitation and organizing to bring people together, eventually serving two terms as the Resident Council President at Golden West Senior Living. In this role, she worked tirelessly to strengthen community bonds during the challenges of the pandemic and to improve the quality of life for residents.
Debra found joy in taking long walks, sharing time with her close circle of friends, and engaging in community-building efforts throughout Boulder and beyond. Her spiritual life was grounded in Christian Science, and she was known for her gift of building meaningful connections and fostering community wherever she lived.
For ten years, Debra lived at Nyland Cohousing in Boulder, where she formed lasting friendships and later spent eleven years at Golden West Senior Living, where she found another welcoming community and many friendships that enriched her life.
Debra is survived by her son, Benjamin Stein, his wife, Alicia Brown, and her beloved grandson, Levi Stein. She is also survived by her brothers, Scott Roberg (Jody) and Rick Roberg.
A gathering of remembrance will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park Chapel in Boulder on February 23rd at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Unity House Boulder.
