Joann Elizabeth Falcon

Joann Elizabeth Falcon passed away on July 15, 2022 after a devastating but brief illness.

Known to others as Ms. Falcon, Jo-Jo, Bunky, or simply Jo, she wholeheartedly shared her infectious laugh, generous spirit and huge heart with the world. Born to Paul and Marie Falcon in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on December 22, 1941, Jo was a beloved school teacher in Pennsylvania prior to moving her family to Boulder then teaching at Annunciation Catholic School in Denver and in Boulder Valley School District at Eisenhower Elementary and Alicia Sanchez Elementary. She retired from teaching in 1998 but continued in her role as a compassionate property manager for many in the Boulder area.

Joann lived her life with joyful boldness, unbridled generosity and tender kindness. Though she didn’t set out to be, Jo was a role model for others in the way she jumped into life saying YES to every road trip, Red Rocks concert and black diamond ski run ever presented to her. She brought out a zest for life in all those lucky enough to encounter her on her adventures.

She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, Shane Behanna. Her spirit will continue to shine through the lives of her daughter, Chelsea Behanna, granddaughter, Josephine Briggs, lifelong partner, Pam Dininger, 7 siblings, 3 aunts, 36 cousins and countless friends.

Though throughout her 80 years she donated to any organization that ever asked for money, she would never ask for donations to be made in her name. Instead, she asked that everyone acknowledge her passing through her go-to actions of kindness and generosity by offering both to another person as you move throughout your day today and always.

We will celebrate her life, joie de vivre, love of hot fudge sundaes and thoughtful nature at Unity Columbine Spiritual Center (8900 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder, CO 80303) on Monday, July, 25 at 2:00 PM. She will also be celebrated through a mass at St. Paul’s Church in Greensburg in mid-August.
