Joyce Lavonne Johnson

November 3rd 1932- June 4th 2023

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce (Joy) Johnson. She peacefully left this world on June 4th, 2023 at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family.

Joy was the cherished daughter of Lewis Grant McBroom and Ruth Uiola McBroom. She was born on November 3rd of 1932, in Boulder, Colorado. She grew up helping on her family farm in North Boulder, which is where her passion and love for animals began. She enjoyed spending time with her family and tending to the many animals they raised. In her later years, Joy enjoyed coloring, painting, reading, playing penny slots, enjoying desserts and spending time with her family and pets.

Family was paramount to Joy, and she found immense happiness and fulfillment in her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her unconditional love, unwavering support, and knowledgeable advice will forever be treasured by her three children whom she loved dearly: Donald Johnson, Ronald Johnson (T.J. McGuire), and David Johnson. Joy's presence will also be deeply missed by her two grandchildren, Lewis Johnson (Bonnie Johnson) and Victoria Rasmussen (Stuart Rasmussen), and her great-grandchild, Georgia Johnson, who were fortunate to experience her warm embrace and create cherished memories in her company. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nancy Mahan, and husband, Donald C. Johnson.

She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her ability to light up a room with her smile, her kind and loving demeanor, and her unfaltering love for her family and pets.

As we bid farewell to our beloved Joy, we find solace in the memories we shared and the love she bestowed upon us. Though she may be physically absent, her spirit will forever guide and protect us. We will carry her legacy in our hearts, ensuring that her kindness and compassion continue to touch the lives of others.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 12th, from 4-6 p.m. at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Pl. Boulder, CO 80301. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 13th at 1:30 p.m at Green Mountain Cemetery, 290 20th St, Boulder, CO 80302.
